expanding. Our customer loyalty is astounding and we thank you for
your support. Recently Rozan Caculitan from Harris Corporation wrote

We recently mailed Vmeals registrants a copy of our
latest brochure, a letter and a coupon good for a complimentary
lunch from Honey Baked Ham. Please feel free to
pass this brochure along to a co-worker and let us know if you would
like more copies. You can contact us at dc@vmeals.com.

Wow, our
Vmeals Customer Appreciation Program (VCAP) has
really taken off! We enhanced this customer loyalty program for the
July-September quarter and it really shows. We made it easier to
qualify, increased the rewards and added more prize categories. As
long time Vmeals customers know, you earn 1 point for every dollar
ordered through Vmeals, which are then converted into gift
certificates ranging from $20-$150. We also have a grand prize
drawing each quarter. Please email dc@vmeals.com for more information
on our rewards program.
We had 32 winners who won over $1,300
in gift certificates. Congratulations to Beverly Mills of
CH2M Hill who won the grand prize Gift Certificate of
$200 from Nordstrom. Plus, some of our winners
elected to donate the cash value of their gift certificate to the Furnari Fund. Many thanks to all
who participated in this program. We are looking forward to an even
bigger fourth
quarter.

Serving Hot Foods?

THE LATEST ON CHAFING DISHES What
exactly is a chafing dish? Well, it is a metal or aluminum pan over
a heater, used to cook or keep food warm. There are two basic types
of chafing dishes: stainless steel and disposable. The stainless
steel chafer is used to “dress up” your meal presentation. The
disposable chafer is a wire frame that holds the food in aluminum
pans. The stainless steel chafer is typically rented, while the
disposable chafer is purchased. Even though it’s called a disposable
chafer, the wire frame chafer can be reused over and over. If you
are trying to impress, rent the stainless steel. If you are not and
just want to keep your food hot, then purchase a disposal chafer,
along with extra Sternos each time you order a hot
meal.
There are lots of different styles of chafing dishes,
but the most popular are rectangular in shape and hold about 7-8
quarts of food. This is the type of chafing dish you will see from
our providers. Each chafing dish holds either one large pan or two
smaller pans, called half pans. Pan serving sizes will vary
depending on the provider, so please pay close attention to the
serving amount. Every chafing dish comes with a water pan that is
filled with about ˝” of water. The Sternos heat the water in the
water pan, which in turn maintains the temperature of your food.
Never use a chafer without adding water to the water pan! This will
burn your food! Most Sternos are good for about 1-11/2 hours and you
will need at least two per chafing dish.
Most of our
providers provide both stainless steel chafers and disposable
chafers. As always, if you have any questions, please call Vmeals
customer service to help (866-863-2571). A special thanks to
Celebrations Catering for helping us learn more
about chafing
dishes.

Deli Italiano Owner Makes The News
|
 |
| We were
pleased and proud to see that Yassar Baslios who owns Deli Italiano
was featured recently in the Times Community Newspaper. It is a
great article that describes how Yassar came to the US from Egypt
knowing no English and with only $125 in his pocket. He now owns his
own thriving restaurant business in Northern Virginia. Deli
Italiano, of course, is one of the most successful Vmeals
Providers—our customers love Yassar’s food and service! The full article can be read
here. To learn more about Deli
Italiano’s Vmeals menu visit www.vmeals.com.

Furnari Fund Launches!
|
 |
Many of our
loyal customers have heard us talking about the Furnari Fund
for Breast Cancer Prostheses. This charity is designed to
help women of limited means afford the acquisition of a prosthesis
after a mastectomy. We have found that there is a huge need for such
a service and we have been met with an enthusiastic response.
Working with Charlene Furnari, a breast cancer survivor and Donna
Walcott both from SAIC, a Vmeals customer, and “PCE”, LLC have
worked to create this charity. We have written a business plan,
found a sponsor and will soon be ready to accept donations. We have
set a goal to raise $15,000 by December 2005 and already have
pledges for close to $7,500!
Vmeals customers can help by
converting their VCAP points into contributions to the Fund. Thus,
the more you use Vmeals, the more that you can potentially donate.
Of course, we will also accept regular cash contributions. We hope
to have the final details completed by early November. For the
latest, including the names of those who contributed, see www.furnarifund.org. |

More Charity Events

The local
Vmeals team has been active in other charity events as well. “PCE”,
LLC the DC area Vmeals representative worked with Symantec
Corporation to help raise money for the Herndon Free
Clinic. The Herndon Free Clinic serves less fortunate members of the
community by providing medical care to Children in need. “PCE”, LLC
was able to donate $200 towards the charity auction while also
helping Symantec secure over $175 in restaurant gift certificates
from Tortilla Factory, Marco Polo, Morton’s and Sweet Water Tavern.
The auction was a huge success raising $23,000.
We also
worked with Acumen Solutions and Tysons Sport &
Health Club on a run/walk event to raise funds for the Super Harry
Race event to help Harry, a longtime and very active member of
Tysons Sport & Health, to acquire a special prosthetic leg to
enable him to participate again in athletic exercise. Vmeals
providers, Vie de France and Joe
Java provided excellent and much appreciated breakfast
refreshments for the runners. Rita and David, of “PCE”, LLC, and
Marsha Lyerly from Acumen Solutions participated in the run/walk
even on a very rainy Saturday morning with Harry leading the run in
his wheelchair. The event was very successful, raising $40,000.
Thank you to Vie de France, Joe
Java and Acumen Solutions for involving us
in this inspiring event.
